ACCW ADOPTED RESOLUTIONS FOR 2009-2011

Whereas, Last year poor harvests in many countries led to food shortages; and

Whereas, The NCCW/CRS (Catholic Relief Services) Madonna Plan helps women in developing countries improve local agriculture and promote job opportunities to support their families

Resolved, That Council of Catholic Women members be given information on NCCW Works of Peace/Madonna Plan and that they consider budgeting donations to the Mission/Madonna Plan through ACCW

Mission/Madonna Fund Disbursements

The ACCW Board recently approved disbursement of the parish contributions for the Mission/Madonna Fund for 2008-2009. A total of $19,297.94 was received and allocated to the Madonna Fund sponsored by NCCW and Catholic Relief Services and to other charities benefiting women and children selected by the ACCW. As always, 75 percent or $14,473.45 was allocated to the Madonna Clinics.

Other traditional contributions include: Water for Life, $1,500; Help a Child, $900; Refugee Women’s Fund, $1,000; and the Venezuela Mission, $1,000. In addition, the ACCW board selected two local recipients which received $212.25 each.  They were the Human Life Alliance and Cradle of Hope.
